Freighter Update

Well, working on clients' projects has really taken a lot of time away from personal stuff, but it's okay, as I'm eating and that's important. :) 

But I haven't given up on the spaceship stuff.  Doing more texturing.  The texturing and materials are almost done on the freighter.  All that's left is modelling the landing gear and putting in the hatches and ramps.

Commercial Work from back in 2012


Commercial work for an ad agency I was sub contracted under to make a CG sequence for a commercial.  This was made in Blender.  The client was reportedly pleased with the result.

Nem Gate Sets Dressed and Painted

I just got some images back from my client, Tom, of one of the Nem Gate sets I made for him textured and prepared for appearance in the movie.  Interesting to see how different the lounge set looks like from what it appeared as without materials.






Still a WIP, of course, but it's getting there.  I did not render these out, or do the materials.  I only modelled the room geometry.

Material Tests on Plagarus Set

Doing some material testing on a set for Plagarus, Part II.  Trying metallic materials.




Selecting materials is hard, considering this paint scheme has to work in two different rooms with different lighting schemes, and two very different characters with a wide variation of skin tones, yet still look cool.

Ice Base Still Going

Still going on with the ice base.  I'm getting closer to completion, but there's still a lot to do.



Not happy with the lights around the access hole in the floor.  So I'm planning on using one of my nice pre-made lamp models to replace the look.  They come in a variety of shapes. =)

Working on Textures in Blender 2.61

An idea into nodes in the new Cycles renderer in Blender 2.61.  It's a bit cumbersome at first, but I'm sure it'll get easier with time.




Needing to add some specularity maps to the hull so it doesn't look so flat.  But we're nearing the end of exterior texturing, now.  Preparing to upload to storefronts.

Unnamed Freighter Textures 2




So working on textures some more.  I was able to figure out how to fade out the textures a bit to let the geometry show through more.  Now we're getting somewhere!  I'm starting to like the direction this is going in.  Still have to add some decals and whatnot.  I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to do that, but we'll figure something out. =)

I'm not thrilled with the doors inside the hatches.  I've got to fix those up, now.  Otherwise, she's really starting to come together!

Unnamed Freighter Textures




I struggle with texturing.  It's not as easy as modeling for me, for some reason.  So far, we've got the general texture.  Still have to add the detail textures, like arrows and warnings and text.  Unfortunately, as seems to be the case with my textures, I'm not thrilled with how the model looks with the textures applied.

Hopefully it'll work.
