Adamant II Work In Progress

More work done today.  Also did a tutorial on how I model the hull plates. =)

Nearing the time when super detailing comes in.

I still have to fix up the docking bays, and set the doors inside the hull.  Right now they're just place holders sitting outside the actual hull bulkhead.  I also have to detail the doors a lot.  Just because it interests me to do so. =D

Was considering changing the color of the paint scheme, but I'm really liking the dark gray and silver look.  It looks very menacing.

Work on the bridge coming next.  Have to design a control center for the grand lady.

And so another day finished. =)

Adamant II Still Work in Progress

Still working on Adamant II.  Getting a lot more fleshed out, now, and I'm generally happy with the direction it's going in.

Trying a new technique for this ship: low poly interiors for the windows.  It doesn't really pop as much as I'd like it to, but it's not so bad that I'll take it out, either.  Still some work to go on it.

--Add more windows.
--Add greebles and doodads.
--Flesh out wings.

--Finish interior landing bays.

Adamant II

New Adamant body style, following the Maller body style for original concept.  Going to add my own spin on it.  This is how I typically come up with spaceship designs. =)

Adamant Detailing Session

Super detailing stuff involves more than adding doodads to an object.  Greebles should have some kind of logical sense behind them, like they belong on the spaceship or scene.  Wires should go places, there should be rivets or bolts or plates of some kind.  Anything that makes sense.  If you have trouble figuring out what to add, look at reference images of various industrial machinery (i.e. rail road equipment from the 1920 - 70's, industrial yard trucks, heavy mining machines, etc...). But remember to add a sci-fi twist to it.

This will give you a good starting point, and, depending on the look you're trying to get, can give you stuff you don't actually have to modify very much.

Try it for yourself and you might be surprised by the results! =)

Still working on Adamant, hoping to get her space-worthy in a few weeks.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Retro Spaceship (Finished)

A spaceship I made a year ago and posted on store fronts.  I really like it, though it turned out to be less popular than I hoped it would. Oh well. =)
